I always thought that the font used in Dragon Ball was very clean and neat looking; every kanji is shaped and pronounced nicely.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the font was or any other related information, perhaps a similar looking font. On closer inspection it actually looks like every title card could be hand-written. It looks like there are minor imperfections in the type but I'm not sure if that's due to picture quality, film aging, or DB just being made in the 80s.

I was thinking about this recently while watching the end credits, and I assumed that they were all hand-written. And, in thinking about it, I guessed it would have been because computers of the time would have been incapable of producing intricacies of kanji. That was just my completely unsubstantiated guess, though.

They were all hand-written until DBZ episode 100 or so, then after that they started using a font sold by Shaken, which probably is Ishii Chuu-buto Gothic Tai (DG-KL).
